The Fyne Ales brewery was set up by Johnny and Tuggy Delap in 2001 using the redundant milking parlour on their farm at Achadunan, Cairndow.   The first commercial brew was on St. Andrews day 2001. The design for the brewery and the impact which the brewing makes on the locality are arranged to have as little environmental impact as possible. Water is sourced from a burn above the brewery overlooking Glen Fyne and the head of Loch Fyne.

In October 2002, within nine months of starting production, they were awarded the Scottish regional gold awards from the SIBA for two of their beers. They went on to compete with these beers in the National Championship in 2003 against strong competition from the English regions, and won a silver and bronze award. In 2004 they again won a gold and silver award in the Scottish regional competition and have gone on to win similar awards in 2005 and 2006. As well as the brewery they also have a bottling line on site. Their latest beer "Jarl" has also won S.I.B.A. Champion beer 2011 and is well worth a try.

An antidote to Christmas. No fancy spices just a really good stronger ale with a crisp hop flavour and plenty of malt. A refreshing beer to clear the palate. Available from Advent to Epiphany.

The taste starts with a citrus floral aroma, the tongue then picks up the honey and a bold grapefruity finish follows.

A fine, robust fruity ale with reddish mahogany colour and warm roasted malt flavours. A full 'mouth' taste and fruity hop aromas generate a distinctive character to this beer.
