Geordie's Byre - Ayr

Reviewed By           :     Geoff Foden

Date                       :     June 2011

Pub Name               :     Geordie's Byre

Location                  :     103 Main Street, Scotland, Ayr KA8 8BU

Marks Out Of Ten  :     9

Review  :   A bit disquieting when you first enter and notice the total absence of puking children, along with no noisy TVs or noisy slot machines.
Gets even better when you realise the beers on offer, including usually 3 guest ales, are all excellent. Has one of the widest whisky selections I've ever seen and the home-made chilli pickled eggs are fantastic. Prices are excellent too and whilst the smaller bar part at the front is very small, there is a much larger bar at the back. Eddy (it's been 2 years since my last visit) was the owner at the time and whilst he brooked no nonsense, he was always friendly and warm to his customers.

xxxx - I believe this pub has won Pub of the Year for Scotland as well as Ayrshire & Galloway Pub of the Year on numerous occasions - Alastair

I DRINK IN GEORDIES BYRE WHEN I AM IN AYR .I LIKED THIS PUB WHEN I WAS 18 I HAVE BEEN AWAY FROM AYR FOR A LONG TIME (IN THE ARMY THEN AFTER THE ARMY). IT IS A NO NONSENSE PUB CLEAN GLASSES GOOD BEER NICE WHISKIES "YOU DRINK YOUR QUOTA THEN OFF YOU GO. THERE ARE NO WEE ""IRRITATING NYAFFS" IF I MOVE BACK TO AYR PERMANENTLY THIS WOULD BE WITHOUT ANY DOUBT THE PUB THAT I WOULD DRINK IN.HOWEVER WHEN I AM IN AYR I MAKE IT MY POINT TO HAVE A WELL EARNED QUIET DRINK IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT

When I moved to Ayr and asked my colleagues to go out for a pint and a chat, they invariably pointed at this place.
So happy they did.

Soon I'll have to leave and I'm sure I'll have my leaving do there.
