The Glen Scotia Distillery was founded around 1832. After a period of closure in the mid 1980s the distillery reopened toward the end of that decade backed by the Canadian whiskey company Gibson. The name was retained after a management buy-out of Littlemill and Glen Scotia. The Distillery is currently owned by Loch Lomond Distilleries.
