The Miltonduff Distillery was officially licensed in 1824 by Robert Bain and Andrew Peary.
It had been making Whisky earlier than this, but this was done illicitly. It went through various owners until it was bought in 1935 by a large Canadian Distilling company called Hiram Walker who ran it under the name George Ballantine & Son.
The Distillery was almost completely rebuilt around 1974/75
The current owner is Pernod Ricard and it now houses the Chivas Regal northern division admin department, it's engineering dept and a dark grains plant. They produce a nice 10 year old single malt, along with a few other single malts, but most of the whisky produced here goes into Ballantine's blends.
