The Talisker Distillery was established around 1830 by two brothers, High & Kenneth MacAskill. The distillery passed through many hands over the years until in 1925 it was bought by the Distillers Company. Unfortunately it suffered a serious fire in 1960 when the still house burned to the ground, but it was rebuilt with exact copies of the original stills. The Talisker Distillery is well known for producing great single malt, but it also produces whisky for blends such as Johnnie Walker. The distillery is currently owned by Diageo plc.
