Isle Of Arran Distillers - Lochranza

Picture

Address             :   Arran Distillery, Lochranza, Isle of Arran, KA27 8HJ

Telephone No    :   01770 830264

Web Site             :   www.ArranWhisky.com

Visitors Center  :   Yes - Well worth a visit !

The Arran Distillery was established in 1993 by Harold Currie, a former managing director of Chivas. Arran has had very many illicit distillers over the years but this is the first legal distillery on the island since the distlilery at Lagg closed in 1837. It has been designed with tourists in mind and is, at the moment, a small operation. It is well worth a visit, check out the video below which was filmed in 2010 when I was on holiday in Arran. The Arran Distillery produces some great single malts, (not peaty like most island malts), and whisky for blends such as Lochranza.

Finish:    Slightly bitter, maltiness.

Arran 14 Year Old Single Malt 46%

The 2010 release from Arran, the 14 year old replaces the previous benchmark, the 12. This was finished in fresh bourbon and sherry hogsheads 2 years before it was bottled. The result is a sweet, fruity arran with all that wonderful malt.
