The Scottish Borders brewery is the brain child of John Henderson. John owns Chesters country house and estate which is on the banks of the river Teviot in the Scottish borders, hence the name. John thought it seemed sensible to start a brewery because they were already growing barley and they had plenty of spare water. All they would have to import were the hops. In fact they are the only brewery that I know of that claim to produce the beer "From the plough to the pint". The brewery started producing beer early in 2011.
