THISTLY CROSS CIDER was established in 2008 and is a Scottish Cider, the only Scottish Cider company known to the National Association of Cidermakers. The cider is made by Scottish Cidermaker Peter Stuart and Ian Rennie on Belhaven Fruit Farm, a mile from Belhaven Brewery, outside Dunbar. Thistly Cross Cider has been sold at Farmers Markets throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians, and is beginning to find its way into all good farm shops, delis and independent pubs and restaurants across the country.
They are doing really well and have won four great taste awards this year for their ciders, I've had the pleasure of tasting pretty much the whole range and they are great ! I visited them in September and spent an enjoyable couple of hours with Ian Rennie and my good friend John Rutherford. The video below was filmed then, please forgive me for the sound quality at the start of the video - it gets better.
The video above was filmed at the 2011 Thistly Cross Cider festival. This is an interview with Peter Stuart in which he talks about why he started making Cider and some of the new developments at Thistly Cross. There is a longer video about the 2011 festival on the June 2011 edition of "A View From The Bar".

THISTLY CROSS ORIGINAL CIDER 7.2% abv
It is a refreshing, lightly sparkling cider that does away with the sharp bubbles of commercial ciders. Light and fruity to taste, more complex flavours develop.
